Your Reiki Session
Many people ask what they can expect from their Reiki Session.
Though everyone’s experience is personal to them, here are some commonalities that you may experience.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a completely non-invasive spiritual healing method which harnesses benevolent energy to promote healing through relaxation and good intention. Reiki is not a medical practice and is never meant to replace the advice given by trained doctors and medical practitioners. A Reiki practitioner will never prescribe or diagnose.
The Day of Your Session
The day of your session, even before we see each other, you’ll want to be sure you eat and hydrate. Though it is quiet work, Reiki still asks the body to heal, whether it is a broken bone, illness, or emotional distress. Honor your body’s process by keeping it full of good, clean food.
Before We Begin
First, before you session begins, you will be asked to sign a medical intake form, as well as a consent form, which states that you willfully allow me to perform Reiki on you.
When you are guided into the Reiki room, you will be asked to remove all jewelry, watches, hats, belts, shoes, and any restrictive clothing. All of your clothes will stay on. You will be covered with a blanket for warmth and comfort.
If I am coming to your home, you want to be sure we are completely free from distractions. Televisions, phones, pets, kids all need to be out of eyesight and earshot.
The same rules apply for a distance healing session. You must find a way to turn the world off temporarily to relax and receive properly.
The Session
Your session will be performed with laying of hands (light touch) or no touch at all. If you have a specific preference, please let me know.
The way Reiki works is, the practitioner (me) performs as a vessel for the healing energy available in the universe. You do not need to be religious for Reiki to work. Your guides—God, your Angels, your Grandparents—will appear as they are needed. Some receiving Reiki actually see them, some don’t. Reiki will go where it is needed; it is wiser than all of us. I don’t need to know your specific illness or trouble for Reiki to do its job.
During your session, you may feel a range of emotions, even crying. Some feel a release of energy, some feel nauseous (which is also a release), some actually see their healing guides.
And then there are some that don’t feel anything at all. This absolutely does not mean that Reiki isn’t working to heal you. Everyone experiences Reiki differently. You must trust the process.
After the Session
It’s recommended that right after your session, you don’t run off to an obligation, but rather take a solid 15 minutes or more to sit and relax, away from noise and chaos. (It’s possible we may be able to work this time into the end of your session, but we won’t know until that moment.) Hydration is key, so please be sure to drink 1-2 glasses of water right after your session. It’s possible that you may feel hungry, and if you are, find a healthy snack. Don’t be afraid of the reflections that may come into your head.
Also, Important…
If you feel too overwhelmed or ill or in pain, please seek help from a medial practitioner. Reiki is an exceptionally helpful healing tool, but it is never meant to replace the advice and care of your doctor.
